Challenge

With a goal to minimize friction and confusion while maximizing positive experiences for their customers, Because revamped their ecommerce technology stack and migrated to Shopify Plus for ecommerce, Loop for subscriptions, and Klaviyo for Email & SMS.

While these platforms improved overall performance and customer experience, gaps remained in their retention strategy. Extending subscriber lifecycles beyond the first and third purchase after a free starter pack provided difficulties, and they lacked the ability to offer store credits for dissatisfied customers.

What’s more, the integration also unlocked deeper functionality for Because, as they could now tap into subscription triggers from Loop to power personalized loyalty incentives and their first focus was to optimize an existing key subscription enrollment driver: a free starter pack offer.

With a fully integrated loyalty system, Because implemented Subscription Milestones which rewards customers based on the number of reorders they’ve completed. In particular, Because could apply rewards to entice free starter pack subscribers into their first full purchase with additional rewards along their subscription journey to maximize retention.
